Platypus researchers Joshua Griffiths and Farley Connelly (both from platypusSPOT) take bbody measurements and DNA samples from a platypus (Ornithorynchus anatinus). It was captured as part of a Melbourne Water study to monitor the local population. After DNA and body measurements are taken and it is checked for a microchip, it is then returned within 30 minutes of capture. Such data is used to help compare morphological and genetic differences that may exist between populations.
